Terms of service

Last updated 26 September 2026. Nostalgo is published by Horse Hill LLC ("we", "us").

These terms cover the Nostalgo apps and this website. Using Nostalgo means you accept them. They are written to be read.

1. The beta

Nostalgo is in public beta, on iPhone through Apple's TestFlight and on the web. During the beta it is free, Plus features included. Features change, features disappear, limits change, and things break. Do not use the beta as the only copy of anything you care about. Keep your original prints, and keep a copy of any file that matters to you elsewhere as well.

2. Your account

You sign in with Apple, Google, or a link or code sent to your email. The first sign-in creates the account. You are responsible for the mailbox and the sign-in method you use. Tell us if you think someone else is in your account.

You must be 13 or older to use Nostalgo, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live.

3. Your photos stay yours

You keep every right you had in your photographs and in everything you write about them. You give us one narrow permission: to store, copy, process and display your content for the purpose of running Nostalgo for you and showing it to the people you shared it with. That permission exists so the service can work. It ends when you delete the content or your account.

We do not use your photographs to train models, and we do not license them to anyone.

4. Content rules

Nostalgo is for family photographs and the people who share them. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users. You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload. Do not post, send, share or write:

• nudity or sexual content; sexual content involving minors is removed at once and reported to the authorities;
• violence, gore, or threats against anyone;
• harassment, bullying or hate, including photos of other people used to expose, shame or endanger them;
• spam, scams or advertising;
• anything that is illegal where you are, or that you have no right to copy or share.

Do not break, overload, probe or reverse engineer the service. Comments, notes, captions and the photos you send to others are checked automatically, and anything that looks like it breaks these rules is held back before anyone sees it.

5. Reports and blocking

You can report a photo, a note, a comment or a person from the app. What you reported is hidden from you straight away. We review every report within 24 hours. When content breaks section 4, we remove it and we warn, suspend or close the account that posted it. An account that posts such content again, or that abuses other people, is closed.

You can also block a person. They disappear from your feed, cannot send to you, and their comments and reactions are hidden from you. To tell us about content or a person, you can also write to hello@nostalgo.app.

6. Restored and re-imagined

Nostalgo distinguishes two things. Restore applies only faithful corrections: straightening, trimming, colour, noise, damage repair, resolution. Re-imagined uses a generative model that repaints the picture, so the result is a new image and not a record of what was photographed. Re-imagined output is labelled, is produced only when you ask for it, and is saved beside the original rather than over it. Short videos made from a photo are labelled as made with AI too. Do not present a re-imagined image or a video as evidence of anything.

7. Price

During the public beta Nostalgo is free, Plus features included. Paid plans may come later. If they do, prices are shown in the app before anything is charged, nothing is charged unless you choose a plan, and on iPhone and Android purchases go through Apple and Google, whose payment terms and refunds apply. If a paid plan ends, your photos are not deleted.

8. Daily AI allowance

The AI features have a daily allowance for each account and one for everyone together. When it is used up, the app says so and the AI features pause until midnight Pacific time. Scanning, basic restoration, viewing and sharing are not affected.

9. Closing your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app, under Menu, Account, Delete account. Your content, and your entries on this website with the same email address, are deleted as the privacy page describes. We can suspend or close an account that breaks section 4, that we are required to close, or if we discontinue the service, in which case we will give you notice and time to take your photos with you.

10. Warranty and liability

Nostalgo is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that a restoration will match your memory of the print. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of California, United States, and the courts there have exclusive jurisdiction, except where the law of your home country gives you the right to bring a claim locally.

12. Changes

We will post changes here and, when they matter, tell you by email before they take effect. If you do not accept a change, delete your account and take your photos with you.
